Shaul is a key figure in Israeli tennis, particularly in the northern border town of Kiryat Shmona. For decades, he has dedicated his life to training and nurturing young tennis prodigies, including Israel’s former champion Dudi Sela, and has established social programs through sports for impoverished communities in the region, including those with special needs. Zohar not only trained champions but also established a successful tennis center in Kiryat Shmona, instilling a love for the ‘white sport’ among generations of children from the northern Galilee border communities.
He is considered not just a coach but also a dynamic community leader who has contributed greatly to Kiryat Shmona. During the ‘Iron Swords’ war, he continued to work for the community and sports, and received a lifetime achievement award from the Education, Culture and Sports National Committee. Zohar’s story is one of perseverance, a love for sports, and belief in the power of individuals to change their environment, and Galila is proud to collaborate with him.
