The “Nike Sneakers” project for Galilee kids
Jamie Frank from El Paso, Texas decided to share his recent Bar Mitzvah gifts by initiating a wonderful project benefiting hundreds of impoverished children in the Galilee region.
As part of his Bar Mitzvah project, Jamie and his family decided to purchase 250 pairs of new Nike sneakers that the Galila foundation will distribute to kids registered with the social welfare agencies in various communities across the northern Galilee. The Nike company decided to participate in this initiative and, through their Nike EMEA Jordan Brand, doubled the number of sneakers available for distribution to these kids in time for the summer holidays.
The founder of the Galilee ‘Adrenalin’ runners and one of Galila’s social entrepreneurs, Sharon Shalev-Mayer has organized her groups of runners to participate in the distribution process of the 500 pairs of new Nike sneakers to the children. They will initiate and operate a ‘fun day’ for the kids and present tem with their new sneakers at the end of the day’s activity.
The Galila foundation is grateful to Jamie and his family for their creative and generous initiative. Thanks also to the Nike company for their supplementary gift and to Sharona and her ‘Adrenalin’ runners group – you have all made this summer even more special to 500 kids living very challenging lives in urban and rural communities across the northern Galilee.
