Happy holidays

They came off the bus one by one very slowly, looking around the beautiful scenery of the sea and entering the inviting hall that was prepared beautifully at the Sea life hotel at Nahariya. 150 holocaust survivors from Acre, Nahariya, Safed and Ma’alot arrived at noon on Monday, 04.04.2016 to celebrate the beginning of spring at the Sea Life hotel in Nahariya together with high school students from Amirim from Kfar Veradim and representatives of the Galila Foundation.

This moving event is in addition to activities Galila foundation does on behalf of Holocaust survivors living in our region. This year Orgad Ronen, CEO at Sea Life hotel in Nahariya, joined our efforts and gave us a memorable lunch event. The beautiful hall, rich menu and an outstanding staff that was there to serve assist and help in any way they could to make this event a phenomenal. The elderly guests all over 75 years old were excited and did not stop to admire and thank. And we too could not stop praising and thanking.

Along with the hotel’s events team we were joined this year with high school students from Amirim from Kfar Veradim that came with the teachers Rivka Levinger and Fania Greenspon. Students Representative Daniel welcomed the elderly guests and the students joined the tables for conversation and introduction. Some of the hugs and kisses between the elderly and the students also caused great excitement in our hearts.

On the artistic side conducted Alexei Izbkob which came accompanied with 2 singers who entertained us with songs and music. At the end of the event his one received a grant that will assist going through the holidays in an easily way.

Galila Foundation operates year-round in a variety of activities for Holocaust Survivors including an assistance fund for the needy, meetings with survivors, educational enrichment program on the Holocaust and the distribution of vouchers for holidays. The event at the Sea Life hotel was the peak event of our activities that take place in cooperation with the Association of concentration camps and ghetto survivors in Israel

We are grateful to the generous donors from the United States – HOT fund, PEF, Mid Kansan Federation and from England Sobell Foundation who makes all of this important activity to take place.
